I went to the desert looking for answers. Instead, I found dinosaur bones, petrified wood, a big bag of honey sticks—and a little more of myself. “Dinosaur Bones & Petrified Wood” is an indie rock song about stepping outside the noise of everyday life and remembering just how temporary our worries really are.
The desert has a way of putting things into perspective. The things that consume us today will eventually become yesterday's history.
Our worries will fade.
Our time here is short.
So maybe the answer isn't to have everything figured out.
Maybe it's to love more, worry less, and live twice as good.
“All the problems of today Soon will fade away—
Just like dinosaur bones and petrified wood, honey.”
This power trio blends rock, jazz and folk elements to offer a hopeful and cathartic experience that is a love letter to humanity.
It is a free-flowing and relatable gift to music lovers.

“Playful one moment and spiritually expansive the next, ‘The Tale of Gaia’ is Sam Stokes at her most ambitious; delivering an album that gets lost in the mess of being human before finding its way back towards hope.”
Lock Magazine
“Expansive, heartfelt and often beautifully eccentric, 'The Tale of Gaia' is a record about losing your place in the world and slowly finding it again."
Flex Magazine
“As a follow-up release, “Lay on Grass” signals an artist who understands the power of simplicity and intention. Sam Stokes is carving out a niche that values feeling over spectacle, offering music that connects on a human level.”
